Who is a Plastic Surgeon?

A Plastic Surgeon is a physician specialist who is trained in and practices plastic surgery. Typically this involves at the very minimum 13 to 16 years of school and training after high school in progressively specialized areas, finishing with a residency in Plastic Surgery. Many Plastic Surgeons have had even further, additional specialized fellowship training beyond this.

Plastic Surgeons are recognized with Board Certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS).

Patients always carefully should review the credentials of their doctor, especially when they are not specifically Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
