By law, insurance companies are required to cover the costs of breast reconstruction at any time after mastectomy. This includes any surgery required for symmetry of the opposite breast as well. See the links below for the applicable Federal and State laws.
Some insurance companies may urge patients to pursue options such as implant reconstruction, which may be cheaper for the insurance company in the short term.
Our office is experienced in working with all major insurance companies. We work closely with each individual case and really make the effort to keep every one of our patient's out of pocket expenses to a minimum.
